North American Steel Erectors Inc.
160 Griffin Ranch Road, Cochrane, Alberta, Canada | Steel/Iron
Traditionally, fabricators have been the prime steel contractor for steel requirements on projects. However, as the on-site schedule, site logistics and safety requirements continue to become more stringent and complex, general contractors have realized the direct and positive benefits of having a professional team of erectors being the prime steel contractor.
As passionate and professional erectors we are proud to be a strong advocate of transitioning our industry from this traditional approach to the new era of how we all approach projects today.
NASE is the main point of contact for your steel package, achieving mutual beneficial interests with general contractors by leading projects with collaboration and coordination with fabricators and managing the site driven schedule - it is all about connectivity. We integrate the design of safety systems into our fabrication and construction plans.
History
The story behind NASE goes all the way back to when Steeve Toupin and Harry Cacciotti met at Detroit's Ford Field in 2001. As young professionals in the steel industry, they saw the need back then for better pre-planning of work for major commercial projects. Often, they found themselves scrambling to recover from problems stemming from a lack of input from the field.
Although they went their separate ways after the Anchorage International Airport project in Alaska, they remained in touch. In 2010, Steeve was recruited to bail out the BC Place and Investor's Group Field projects, heading toward project failure in financial and schedule terms. Clearly seeing the same problems he and Harry faced back in 2001, he gathered a team of field experts from these two projects to change the system.
In 2014, Toupin and his small team were given the opportunity to show the value of prior planning as an erector on the ambitious BMO Field renovations. The business model was validated following major successes on this project and others using the erector first model. From there, it was only natural to reunite with Harry to officially start what is now known as North American Steel Erectors.
Mobility
NASE has a longstanding relationship with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers. Our leadership is comprised of members from 5 different locals across Canada and the United States.
The Ironworkers provide manpower across North America that is trained, effective, and safe in their every day practices. No one company can compare to this organization in providing and maintaining such a talent pool across two countries for a high risk job such as ironworking.
Our ongoing relationship with the Ironworkers is our most cherished asset. We believe we can learn from each member provided by the Local Unions and strive to return their membership safer, smarter and more qualified after each job performed with NASE by actively participating in their apprenticeship programs.
