Hubert Sabourin Inc. is a second generation, family owned and operated, steel supply business located in Alexandria, Ontario, in the heart of Glengarry. We pride ourselves on serving the community at large for more than 45 years.

With over 10,000 square feet of industrial warehousing, Hubert Sabourin Inc. has many of the metal products (Steel, Stainless steel (304), Aluminum plates (3003-H14, Extrusion, 6061-T6, 6061-T5), bronze, brass, UHMW white nylon) you need for your next project or repair in stock. From sheet metal to flat bars, from plumbing pipes to tubing, from I-beams to H-beams, from rebar to steel mesh, and a whole lot more.

We carry lengths in the cold roll steel (C1018) up to 20 feet. C1045 Chrome induction shaft for high stress applications and hot roll steel up to 24 feet.

As mentioned earlier, our company is family owned and operated. We’re the second generation to build and carry on the legacy of the business started in 1959 by our father Hubert Sabourin. That’s right, our father was an industrious man. He started a business out of the need for animal bedding on farms when one summer there was a shortage of straw. He remembered, as a kid growing up on a farm, that his parents would sometimes use wood shavings for the animals bedding in the barn or the horse stall, that was when SANILIT LIMITED was born. A company that provides ecologically sound, sanitary litter for animals.

When our father was building the business, he often had to design and construct his own machinery. He bought the required metal for a project, and any left overs were set aside to maybe use later. One day, I am not sure when, a farmer came by to purchase bags of wood shavings. While he was talking to my father, he noticed the small pile of metal and asked if he would sell the metal to him. The farmer needed the metal to repair a piece of farm equipment. From that day forward, the word spread, and my father started selling metal in the local area.

Fast forward to 1972, and Hubert Sabourin Inc. was born. Warehousing a wide variety of metal, in various types and sizes. As he was building a second business, industrial machines to bend, cut, and shape metal were added. If he needed a tool to complete a project and it wasn’t available, he would fabricate it.

For example, as the business was growing, he needed a better way to transport the wood shavings, so he constructed a double, 30 foot length transport trailer to haul the material. Many of these trailers are still on the road today.

45 years later, the name and the brand Hubert Sabourin Inc. is synonymous with quality and durability. Our company supplies many businesses and manufacturing facilities within a 150km radius.
