MEET OUR ARTISTS

Zachary Shoe · Memphian.Artist.Craftsman

After graduating from a local journeyman welder program, Zachary, or “Shoe” as he is often called, found himself with a quite fortuitous job opportunity. What seemed to be just an entry level welder/fabricator position, at one of Memphis’ oldest ornamental iron shops, proved to be fertile conditions for a beautiful union of a Zachary’s life long passion for the arts and new found trade of metal work to blossom and grow.

Iron & Design was born in 2016 after Zachary met Matthew and discovered their shared enthusiasm for the trade of iron work and challenge of designing beautiful, functional structures.

Some of Zachary’s previous work can be found from The Overton Square to The Dixon Gallery and Gardens.

CityWood's mission is to create beautiful pieces of furniture from fallen trees that otherwise would end up in a chipper of landfill.

We save trees by working with local tree services and converting that hardwood into useful works of art and utility.

Our wood furniture is custom selected and cut from the logs themselves to bring out the beauty of trees and the glory of wood. We work with homeowners and tree service companies directly to find logs for our sawmills where we repurpose this beautiful wood.

We work with many trees including walnut, oak, pecan, cherry and more and can handle 52-inch diameter logs in our sawmill.
