Founded in 1946 with the hard work and perseverance required to be successful in the construction business, Phalen Steel Construction Company spans four generations of the Phalen family. In 2017, Phalen was acquired by Columbus, Ohio based Amaazz Construction Group. Today, Sugu Suguness, P.E., CEO of Amaazz, works closely with the Phalen family as they continue to be involved in managing the business. Our decades-old focus on expert workmanship and maximum value for the client remains unchanged.

We are a general contractor offering design/build construction services for the community, commercial, industrial, and agricultural markets. Approximately 80% of our work is negotiated on a design/build basis. Our history of repeat customers is a testament to the value we deliver on every project.

The discipline and processes that we perfected over the years has allowed us to expand the operation from the Mendota, IL region to a second office in Columbus, OH. Now, businesses in central Ohio benefit from the same approaches to successful construction projects that companies in north-central Illinois and other states have enjoyed for nearly a century.

Phalen became a Butler Builder® in 1948, making us the longest tenured builder in Butler’s nationwide network. We also are a 'Career Builder' with Butler, which is offered to builders only after demonstrating their ability to add value to clients and successfully complete several projects.
