K & T Steel Corporation

K & T Steel Corporation was established as an Idaho Corporation on January 1, 1959 and has operated continuously since that time.

 

Our main shop consists of 3 bays, 40’ x 240’, a total enclosed area of approximately 30,000 SF.  Additionally, we have a 50’ x 90’ heated paint building with overhead crane, an indoor sandblasting facility, and heated plate & clip building with 8’ x 20’ CNC plasma table.  We also have 15 acres of outside laydown area and various material storage structures.

 

At full employment we have approximately 60 people in our shop and the necessary office staff consisting of engineers, estimators, draftsmen, sales and administrative personnel.

 

Our business consists of the fabrication of structural and miscellaneous steel, fuel and water storage tanks, bins and hoppers, reinforcing bar, and the sale of plain steel material.  Our sandblast and paint facilities enable us to provide multi-coat epoxy paint systems, common in the food processing and mine industries in our region.   

 

We are certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction to the Standard for Steel Building Structures, as set forth in the AISC Certification Program.  Our plant has successfully carried AISC certification for over 20 years.  We also employ two full time AWS QC-1 Certified Weld Inspectors.  K&T Steel management considers quality of fabricated product, along with customer service, as the strongest and most important aspects of our company.  Our dedication to quality workmanship applies to all facets of our business.

 

K&T Steel has fabricated structural and miscellaneous steel for industrial, commercial, and residential construction projects throughout the Western United States, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.  These projects have ranged in size up to 3,500 tons.  We have supplied many jobs for the Idaho National Laboratory and have successfully operated under the stringent quality requirements of this type of work. 

 

The tanks and hoppers we fabricate are used by the petroleum and fertilizer industries, as well as by the many agriculturally related processing plants that operate in this area.  Our storage tanks are fabricated to Underwriters Laboratories UL 142 specifications.

 

Reinforcing bar sales are normally made in conjunction with fabricated steel and we service the same type of customers in the same general area.  Reinforcing steel is detailed and fabricated in accordance with Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute standards.
