Since 1952, making “stainless steel plate, nickel alloy plate, and titanium products” has been and remains our only business. We know it better than anyone.

Stocking the largest and most extensive single-site stainless plate inventory in North America, we are the industry heavyweight. With over 18 million pounds of stainless and nickel alloy plate available, covering 45 grades and 35 thicknesses, we can satisfy your most demanding and hard-to-find requirements.

Whether your requirement is for 3/16' or 6' thick or 1/8' increments in between, we can provide you with the shape or configuration you need. And you can count on us to ship your order when promised, whether you need it tomorrow, next week, or next month.

Since this is our only business, we stock more than just the standard 304, 304L, and 316L plate that you’ll find at most service centers. We offer a complete line of heat resisting and corrosion resisting grades in the 300 series. We also stock a full line of duplex stainless grades, as well as 410 and 17-4PH. Our nickel alloys round out our extensive menu.

From our proprietary computerized order entry system to our state-of-the-art CAD-CAM center to our bar-coded order tracking, we have the systems and expertise needed to ensure you get consistent product quality, the highest level of customer service, and the most cost-effective solutions you need. With over 100 pieces of value added plate processing equipment on-site, we can provide you with virtually any shape or configuration required, from parts that are plasma cut to abrasive waterjet cut to Machincut (our “Specialty of the House”) and much more.

History

Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. We have been family owned and operated since our inception. Upon Paul Sandmeyer's untimely death in 1969, his son, Ronald P. Sandmeyer, assumed the responsibilities of President. He, along with Paul L. von Zech as Executive Vice President, continued to build upon Paul Sandmeyer's foundation. We became a third generation family business in the early 1980's when Ron Sandmeyer's sons, Ron Sandmeyer, Jr., and Rodney C. Sandmeyer, joined the team. On October 9, 1997, Ron Sandmeyer, Jr., was elected President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding his father, who continues to serve as Chairman of the Board. Rod was elected Executive Vice President, replacing Paul von Zech, who then held the position of Vice Chairman of the Board until his death in June 2008.

We moved to our present location in far northeast Philadelphia in 1963 and have expanded at this site by acquiring several adjacent properties through the years. Today, these facilities consist of over 20 acres with over 150,000 square feet under roof.

From Paul Sandmeyer's vision, with the help of many dedicated and loyal employees along the way, Sandmeyer Steel Company - still family owned and managed - has been making stainless steel plate and nickel alloy plate products for over 60 years.
