Amerom Custom Metal Works

961 Grand Street, Brooklyn, New York, United States | Steel/Iron

Our history begins in 1977 when Florin Carmocanu opened his first shop named Amerom, a portmanteau of ''American and Romanian'' in mid-Manhattan. It was a small walk-in metal shop where anyone who wanted a repair, a fence, a table could just walk in and have it made.

Quickly by word of mouth artists, designers, and architects took note and the shop took off with various projects all over Manhattan. Amerom grew, and in 1980 Florin moved the shop to 22nd Street right off of 6th Avenue. The interior metal work demand really took off by this time and our handmade products were a favorite among anyone who wanted a custom, unique quality product they can call their own. Interior designers and architects were the base of our clientele.

In 1994 we permanently moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn and have been there since.

Although trends and demands fluctuate, quality work doesn't. We still adhere to our original scope and vision from first opening our doors 1977. That vision is to create the best handmade products we can for our customers using New York experience and traditional European skills.
