Armstrong Kover Kwick, Inc.

401 Sproul Street, McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, United States | Steel/Iron

Armstrong Kover Kwick (AKK) was established in 1926 by brothers Alvin and Howard Lichtenstul in the town of Ford City. The company, at that time known as Armstrong Sanitary Wipers, moved to Braddock in 1932. After the floods of 1936, they relocated to the North Side of Pittsburgh. In the summer of 1981, fire destroyed the facility, and the company moved to its present 55,000-sq-ft manufacturing location in McKees Rocks. The company began as a supplier of wiping cloths to steel mills in the tri-state area, but has since grown in both product line and geographic scope.

Today, AKK is a fabricator of felt and carpet materials for use on high-speed slitting lines in the metals processing industry and holds several patents in this product line. In addition, AKK manufactures non-woven fabric rolls that are used in automotive stamping plants, steel mills, and metal processing facilities. AKK represents two fabric roll materials, NCCM (manufactured in the United States) and TOHO from Japan, and is therefore able to offer custom solutions to our customers. Over the years, AKK’s customer base has expanded across the United States as well as into Canada, Mexico, South America, and Israel. AKK prides itself on being the only full-service supplier of industrial wiping/tensioning materials in the country. AKK has the most respected and knowledgeable inside and outside sales force in the industry, which, along with our full-service product line, gives us a marked competitive edge.
