In the changing landscape of the global fastener market, you have to look long and hard to find a company that has survived for 100 years. In the year 2008, Industrial Nut Corp., long recognized as a leader in the range of products that they produce, celebrated just such an accomplishment while continuing to grow and expand their coverage of special nuts and locknuts.  William Springer, current president and grandson of the founder, has overseen many changes in manufacturing and supply channels during his 35 years as head of the company. He observes that “With the integration of vender managed inventory programs, and in response to competitive pressure from low cost countries, we have made the necessary investments to improve productivity through technological advances in equipment and embraced certain lean manufacturing methods.” That translates to more competitive pricing and improved product quality by eliminating costly secondary process which can now be performed in a single operation on state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing equipment.  The company’s continued emphasis on uncompromising quality and service was evident with the addition in 2005 of Matt Adams as Quality Manager. This extra step has helped the company achieve ISO 9001:2008 accreditation while freeing up traditional quality personnel to monitor manufacturing and troubleshoot customer issues pertaining to product improvement or new part development.  As an engineering based supplier of critical components to many industries, including heavy truck, construction equipment and farm machinery, Industrial Nut has not deviated from its mission to supply the best nut for the customer’s application. Industrial Nut’s experienced sales, engineering and production personnel currently market and manufacture their products for customers located primarily in North America and Western Europe.

While the company is most noted for its trademarked BLUE nylon insert locknuts, it continues to manufacture a wide range of special inch and metric series nuts to customer print. “Too often we are reviewed solely on price,” comments 30 year veteran sales manager, Gary Schuster. “We feel that if the customer looks beyond unit price to the performance and reliability of the product, including our field support services, then they will recognize the value we bring to their supply program.” With the quality systems that are in place and the longevity that Industrial Nut has enjoyed, both manufacturers and distributors alike can have confidence in their part specification being met.  Industrial Nut Corp. plantAny good business needs a succession plan to survive, and the fourth generation of the Springer family is well positioned to assume full responsibility of the company at the appropriate time. John Springer, who joined the company in 1993, has recently assumed the role of Vice President and COO. David Springer, Purchasing Manager, joined the company 2008 after spending several years as a components buyer at Honda. “The competitive nature of our industry is constantly changing, yet sound manufacturing strategies coupled with high quality and attentive customer service will never become obsolete,” states John Springer.
