The family owned company was founded in 1903, by Gus Schlaier, in Bronx, New York, as Eagle Wrought Iron Works.  They have served Northern New Jersey and New York successfully for four generations, evolving to meet the changing needs of the industry.  For over 28 years, Raymond C. Schlaier, Jr., and Robert C. Schlaier, have owned J.G. Schmidt Steel, which is now located in Passaic, New Jersey.
