Universal Metals understands the complicated needs of material management within your demanding industry and we are here to help facilitate and execute a strategy to make your business more efficient. During the materials management meetings, the team will work closely with you and your project managers to determine your specific needs as well as to generate a process that ensures a streamlined and effective flow of materials for 'Just-In-Time' management. Our clients have been thrilled with the time and money they have saved by proactively determining their future metal supply needs.
Heat Treating:
Is the controlled heating and cooling of metals to alter their physical and mechanical properties without changing the product shape. Heat treatment is sometimes done inadvertently due to manufacturing processes that either heat or cool the metal such as welding or forming. We ensure that every heat treat order conforms to your specifications and other requirements through appropriate testing and inspection techniques.
Saw-Cutting:
Is the primary method of obtaining cut-to-size material. We are capable of cutting all materials, any size, and any quantity, up to 50 HRC. We also cut circles and shapes!
Mechanical Testing:
Divulges the behavior of a material when force is applied. Mechanical testing shows whether a materials or part is suitable for its intended mechanical applications by measuring elasticity, tensile strength, elongation, hardness, and fatigue limit.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT):
Uses high frequency sound energy to conduct examinations and make measurements. Ultrasonic inspection can be used for flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, material characterization, and more.
Water-Jet Cutting:
Is a tool capable of slicing into metal or other materials using a jet of water at high velocity and pressure, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. It is the preferred method when the materials being cut are sensitive to the high temperatures generated by other methods.
