Howard Precision Machined Parts (a.k.a. J.W. Howard Inc.) is a premier screw machine shop. Located in Bluffdale, Utah, the company opened its doors for business in 1974. Jack Howard, with years of precision screw machining experience, founded the company with partner Jim Easton. In 1986, Jack bought Jim out and became sole owner of the company.  Jack's son Ryan Howard learned precision screw machining on the Davenport machines the company owned from the time he was old enough to work the machines. Trained by a master, Jack, Ryan bought the company from his father in 2003. With new owner, many changes came. Ryan added 7 more Davenports to the 18 the company owned, for a total of 25 that occupy the 24,000 square foot facility today. Today, the oldest Davenport, a 1951 model, remains operational at Howard Precision Machined Products. Not only are the Davenports superior screw machines that last years and years, but Ryan is skilled at repairing and rebuilding the machines. A more radical change Ryan made was the purchase of 12 Star CNC machines. 'We were well equipped for our core business, making hundreds of thousands of small parts with our screw machines, but we needed to add additional capabilities for our customers -- including the ability to make prototypes and smaller quantity runs', Ryan said. The Star CNC machines provided just this capability.  Howard Precision Machined Parts is on the road for expansion and has been increasing staff to accommodate the steady growth that the company has seen since Ryan's changes have been implemented.
