Mr. Harjit S. Chana immigrated to Canada in the early 1970’s and worked the shop floor for the first few years of settlement in various positions in Toronto and Montreal. In 1976, he and his brother started a small machine shop from a garage in the east end of Toronto. The firm was named Olympic Gear & Mfg in recognition of the 1976 Summer Olympics hosted by Montreal that year. Olympic Gear went on to become a leading global supplier of military and commercial gear products. He served as VP and Plant Manager at Olympic for 20 years before founding Avion in 1995.
