Founded in 1904 by J.W. Tidwell, Southern Sheet Metal Works Inc., is one of the oldest and most respected sheet metal fabricators in the state. The company, established at the beginning of the Oklahoma oil boom, was a major supplier of sheet metal to the booming oil fields. The legacy continues.
As the company continued to increase its presence and size, sons J.W. Tidwell Jr. and Kyle Tidwell joined the team. By the early 1970s the third generation of the Tidwell family, Michael L. Tidwell, had become president and expanded the firm’s operations to include high-tech climate control systems. Southern Sheet Metal Works emerged as a major supplier of custom-fabricated metals by the mid 1980s, and its fabrication of PVC and plastic products became known as the standard in the field of ventilation. The legacy has continued into the fourth generation with the addition of David Tidwell as Vice President in 2008.

Another milestone was reached in 2011 with the launch of Southern Safe Rooms, a division of Southern Sheet Metal.
