Auer Steel & Heating Supply Co. is a full-service distributor of high quality indoor comfort products. With eight locations across the upper Midwest, Auer Steel features Bryant, Carrier (Milwaukee only) and Payne brands of furnaces, air conditioners, humidifiers, air cleaners, heat and energy recovery ventilators, controls and other heating and air conditioning accessories.The company opened in 1940 in Milwaukee, when Don Curtes, Sr. founded the business on his philosophy of providing quality products with superior customer service. Now, over 75 years and two generations later, the Curtes family continues to own and operate Auer Steel with the same valued-added service ideals.

During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Auer Steel expanded with three satellite branches to provide better service to its customers. Although sales of the Carrier/Bryant/Payne product lines are limited to Southeastern Wisconsin, we ship our other products throughout the state.May 1995 brought the expansion of Auer Steel to Minnesota’s Twin Cities. This broadened territory enabled Auer Steel to serve customers in nearly all of Minnesota, eastern North Dakota and northwestern Wisconsin.Our acquisition of the Bryant distributor serving Appleton, Green Bay, Wausau, northeastern Wisconsin and western Upper Michigan in November 2004 has allowed Auer Steel to provide our superior customer service to a newly bolstered territory.

In September of 2010, Auer Steel moved into a modern 110,000 square foot facility in Plymouth, Minnesota.In May 2013, Auer Steel’s area of service and distribution grew to include all of Wisconsin. To better serve this new territory, Auer Steel opened a new distribution center in Madison. Our Madison location represents the Payne brand of forced air heating products along with Mitsubishi and our extensive lineup of boilers and hydronic product solutions. We are excited to serve a new geography from our Madison location, focusing on delivery and support to HVAC customers in Central and Southwest Wisconsin.

On May 1, 2015, Auer Steel opened our newest location in Fargo, North Dakota. Our newly-staffed Fargo store allows us to provide a full offering of services and support to customers on the western edge of our sales footprint, featuring the Bryant brand as well as our full HVAC product lines. The new Fargo team is eager to serve the needs of our friends and customers in North Dakota.Today, Auer Steel is a closely-held corporation owned and operated by Don Curtes and his two sons, Mike and Joe.
