A family run business founded in 1966 by Herbet C. Smith Jr., Westboro Machine has grown from a one-man shop located in the basement of his home to a company that now employs nine people in a 4,000 square foot building located two miles south of Westboro center. Ownership was transferred in 1990 from Herbert Smith to his sons Mike, Mark, and Joel. In 2012, Joel and his wife Denise purchased the business. Now a woman-owned business, Denise manages the day-to-day operation while Joel manages production. Mike continues to work as a valued employee in a senior consultant/machinist capacity.We specialize in all types of custom machining to your specifications. Our highly skilled machinists produce precision components to high quality standards with accuracy and speed to facilitate a quick turn-around. We have established a reputation for consistently delivering made-to-order quality products and services that meet or exceed our customer’s requirements.

Since 1966, Westboro Machine has built a reputation on providing high precision machining services. Much of this is the result of our customer-centric culture and unwavering dedication to quality. As a family-owned manufacturer, we provide process flexibility that is unmatched by larger companies. Our 4,000 square foot facility is equipped with a wide range of advanced machining systems. This includes ten precision turning and milling machines that are designed with features to accommodate the needs of today’s materials. These are all high precision systems and are ideally suited for producing complex geometries; depending on job specification, they can also achieve tolerances to ±.0002”. They include variable work envelopes; for turning, we can accommodate workpieces up to 17” in diameter and 24” long and our milling systems have maximum travel of X=50”, Y=19”, and Z=24”. Our machining capabilities are augmented by support equipment such as a hydraulic broaching machine, a number of precision drill presses and a tumbler and deburring station. The backbone of any precision manufacturer is quality and dimensional verification; we are equipped with a broad range of inspection equipment that is regularly calibrated.

At the core of all of these resources and capabilities is our dedicated staff of technical experts and seasoned machinists. Our team has an average of 20 to 30 years of machining experience; there is not much that they have not done or seen. What this means to our customers is that they are doing more than just working with a quality manufacturer; they also have access to the kind of insight and expertise that is unavailable from other vendors.
