Aluminum Injection Mold Company, LLC. (AIM) is an industry pioneer in providing creative production aluminum tooling solutions to a wide range of markets including automotive, medical, computer / business machine, telecommunications and consumer products since 1985. Because of AIM’s extensive knowledge base and experience in aluminum machining and mold building, Alcoa selected AIM as its beta site for machining their new mold plate offering, QC-10®.

AIM mold designers have expertise in developing cost effective tooling approachs, producing the best possible solution. Regardless of scale, we engineer molds to fit your needs. In today's competitive environment, a 'one mold fits all' approach is a waste of time and money. A simple 'unit' type QC-10® mold can get you started and when production volumes increase, the transition to a single or multi-cavity production mold is easy.

Machining and Manufacture

First, our streamlined workflow results in the completion of molds in weeks rather than months. The significantly higher thermal conductivity of aluminum vs steel molds yields reduced production molding cycle times. This means lower costs, final parts faster and a shorter time to get your parts to market.

Project Management

One person is assigned to your project from the beginning so you always know whom to call. Weekly mold building updates are provided based on the scheduled delivery and customer visits are always welcome!

Why Aluminum?

Aluminum has a reputation for being the material of choice for prototype and short run production. In the last few decades, pressures to shorten cycle time for both making the mold and molding parts has driven the interest level to a new level. Aluminum molds can be used to run all general purpose-unfilled molding resins with tool life exceeding several hundred thousand cycles.

Today, aluminum offers a myriad of benefits. It is easier to cut and it cools at a much more rapid rate (4 1/2 times faster) then steel. This reduces cycle time which reduces total cost. A 15-35% savings can easily be achieved building an aluminum mold over one built in steel. Additionally, the molding cycle savings using an aluminum mold can add another 10-40%.Aluminum mold plate designed specifically for injection molds must be used. Material like the Alcoa QC-10© product has become an industry standard.
