History

In 1972 Mike & LuAnn Staples decided to move their family from Long Beach California to southern Utah. They came to Toquerville with hopes of buying a local Mercantile. The sale fell through. They had no income and young family to feed.Mike started working as a laborer for a local steel fabrication company. Within a short time he asked management if he could take home drawings and bid them after hours. They soon saw his potential and promoted him to work in the office. Within eight years he was General Manager of this company.In 1982 Mike and Luann decided that they wanted to start their own company and S & S Steel was born. They bought a small shop in Lindon Utah. At that time the company was very small, only about 10 people. Some of those employees are still with us today and have become a part of our family.In 1989 S & S relocated to its current location in Hurricane Utah. Since that time S & S has become one of the most well respected steel fabricators in the US.

OUR FACILITY
Founded in 1982, S & S Steel Fabrication sits on a 9-acre site in Hurricane, Utah near Zion National Park. Our facility features multiple operational structures, including a 38,500 square foot fabrication building, which includes an 80’x 300‘ main bay equipped with 20-ton, 15-ton, and two 5-ton overhead cranes that accommodate larger pieces with a maximum hook height of 24’In addition, our 15,000 square foot steel cleaning and painting facility features three 5-ton overhead cranes and a Blastec Steel Shot cleaning machine. With the ability to control temperature and humidity, S & S assures that ambient conditions meet paint manufacturers requirements.
