Scheu Steel Supply is a 4th generation family-run business whose story begins in 1911 with a young orchard heater inventor named W.C. Scheu.In 1911, Scheu moved from Grand Junction, Colorado to Upland, California to open a fledgling orchard heater company.After a devastating freeze in 1913, Scheu met with great success, eventually serving citrus growers all over the western United States and developing over 50 heaters.Scheu struck gold with his invention of the revolutionary HYLO Smokeless Orchard Heater which established Scheu as an industry giant.Scheu purchased a lot of steel for the manufacturing of his heaters and it was W.C’s son, W.L. Scheu, who astutely recognized there was a growing market for a steel supply company in the region. In 1953, Scheu Steel Supply was founded.

A well established steel center

Initially a sheet metal distributor operating out of a small warehouse, Scheu Steel quickly grew with the manufacturing and construction needs of the Southern Californian region.It expanded its facilities in 1957 and 1961 to its current 21 acre facility in Rancho Cucamonga.Leland and Allyn Scheu (W.C.’s grandsons) entered the business in the 1970’s and during the next 3 decades, oversaw Scheu Steel’s successful expansion into value added processes and purchasing state-of-the-art equipment.In 1987, a Palm Springs facility was established to service the Desert Communities.Now in its 4th generation, Scheu Steel Supply continues to build upon its history under the guidance of Craig Scheu and a solid management team.The company prides itself as a full-line service center, family-run company with a strong commitment to its customers, its community, and its employees as it moves into the future.
