Founded in 1973 by President and CEO Jim Uhl, Agate provides general building and general engineering projects to meet the needs of a wide variety of clients. Additionally Agate fabricates structural steel, manufactures pre-engineered metal buildings and flight line canopies and operates an 8-acre Steel Service Center. Jim graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1965, enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam before founding Agate as a unique company specializing in construction driven by steel. Certainty of Outcome is achieved by self-performing the key elements of steel and concrete construction, from concept to completion.Our strength is the range of our experience and expertise as a general building and general engineering contractor, as well our SDVOSB certification and GSA contract. But what sets us apart is our synergistic approach to the construction process. From design and engineering to site development, concrete, steel fabrication and erection, to complete interior build-out we ensure Certainty of Successful Outcome.

Agate Steel Fabrication

Agate Steel utilizes our state-of-the-art, AISC certified 42,000 sq. ft. production facility and 8-acre yard to produce fabricated Steel to exacting standards. Our fabrication division employs over 50 dedicated, quality-is-job-one employees. From our detailing staff, working in CAD/CAM and other technologies, to our highly trained fabricators, machine operators and welders to our experienced estimating and management staff, Agate can fabricate steel components to meet our customer's demanding requirements.

From concept to permitting to construction to completion and Certificate of Occupancy, Agate's Design-Build AE services include architectural design and structural engineering as well as complete construction documentation and plans and specifications. Agate provides design-build AE services as well as complete construction. We provide all on-site management, including project managers, superintendents, project engineers, quality control and safety personnel.

Agate designs, manufactures and erects pre-engineered metal buildings for every purpose as well as aircraft hangers and flight line canopies. From the ground up, Agate can handle everything from the design and engineering of concrete foundations and steel buildings to self-performing the concrete work and steel erection.
