MILWAUKEE VALVE
16550 West Stratton Drive , New Berlin, Wisconsin, United States | Oil & Gas
The Milwaukee Valve Company was established in Wisconsin in 1901, starting out as a small manufacturer of plumbing and heating valves. Herschel Seder purchased the business in 1959, with his late partner, Max Koenigsberg. Over the years, the company expanded its offering to what now consists of over 5,000 items, used in a very wide range of applications and industries, from very small plumbing valves used in the basement of your home, to large petro chemical valves and nearly every size and style of valve in between. Because of our long history, our experience in a broad range of services, and finally our people, many of who have been with the company for 25 years or more, we have developed a unique blend of capabilities unmatched in our industry by any of our competitors. The purpose of this write-up is to outline these capabilities for the benefit of our current and future customers. We are an international organization on both the supply and sales sides of the business. We apply our stringent quality controls to the production of all material, whether we make it in our factories in Wisconsin, or our wholly owned operation in China, or one of our joint ventures elsewhere in the world.
We provide valve customers all over the world with the best and most economical valve solutions to their demanding specifications, which vary widely according to the service and geography. This international capability is important in today’s world economy, and because we were a leader in the overseas production of quality valves and components, we are still generally way ahead of most of our competitors in this important regard. In terms of our design and manufacturing capabilities, which translate directly to our ability to deliver these quality valve solutions, we consider ourselves second to none. We have a well-staffed engineering department, with groups in each of our factory operations to support not only the manufacturing of the many products, but also the design and the critical translation of the designs into manufactured items – a key process where other suppliers, without our depth of experience, often fall down. Our engineers are supported by state-of-the-art computer tools, from 3D design using Solidworks, to finite element analysis (FEA) using COSMOS, to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using CF Design software, to automated data acquisition in our laboratories using Labview. We operate our own fire test facility to help us maintain the most advanced fire safe designs to the latest API and other standards. We translate our 3D designs directly to tool paths both on our shop floor and in our pattern shop, which supports our in-house foundry operation, as well as to our engineering and contracting customers, who use these models in their equipment and building designs. Our factory operations are supported by our continual reinvestment in equipment and machine tools, which enables us to maintain very tight control on our part manufacturing. This translates to more predictable and successful performance of the final products once they’re installed. A significant portion of our business is with the US Navy, directly and indirectly. As a result, the highest possible quality standards that our Navy requires for the valves they buy are applied throughout our operation to everything we do. Because of our long standing position as an important supplier to the Navy, they have trusted us with several key high tech development programs for the newest generations ships and aircraft carriers now being made, something that further distinguishes us from our many competitors.
