Fleming Steel Company started designing, manufacturing and installing custom built doors in 1921. For over 80 years in this specialized field, Fleming has furnished doors to major and regional airlines, aircraft manufacturers, general aviation, U.S. Armed Forces, corporate aviation facilities, and industrial plants, both domestically and internationally. Fleming Steel Company has maintained a reputation in the industry of being the standard of quality desired.  Fleming Steel Company has assisted the United States Navy's Facilities Engineering Command on periodic basis in revising and updating the NAVFAC Guide Specification Manual for all hangar door types and operations. This manual is used extensively by the United States Armed Services.  Fleming Steel Company received in 1987 the Department of the Navy's Certificate of Merit for 'professionalism and devotion to duty in the design and construction of the AIR FORCE ONE MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT HANGAR COMPLEX for the President of the United States at Andrews Air Force Base. Over the years, Fleming has also received many Architectural and Engineering award for design and manufacture of specialized door systems.  In early 1991, Ferguson Door Company of California was purchased by Fleming Steel Company and was merged into the parent as a special division. Since the acquisition, Ferguson Door has been systematically and successfully consolidated into Fleming Steel Company. The combined engineering department has become the most extensive in the door industry, The consolidation of the two companies has resulted into the most comprehensive door designer / manufacturer worldwide. With well over 100 years of proven door experience, Fleming is able to offer project preplanning, A / E consultation, design, manufacture, installation and preventative maintenance on any hangar, industrial and special application door system.
