We own, operate, and maintain an extensive fleet and equipment line, allowing for schedule flexibility so we can provide faster, more economical service. Elk Environmental Services adheres to strict federal, state, and local regulations and all of our field professionals are 40-hour employees, OSHA-trained, and equipped to work on a full range of union and non-union projects.

FACILITIES

Elk Environmental Services conducts corporate operations at 1420 Clarion St., Reading, PA 19601. We also maintain the Elk Training Center at this location.

Additionally, Elk owns and operates a secure fleet and storage facility. A hazardous and non-hazardous 10-day permit allows us to store drum waste at this location, providing you with fast and economical drum disposal services.

The Elk Oil & Gas Division is located at 31305 Route 6, Wysox, PA 18854. The Wysox office serves producers in the Marcellus and Utica Shale oil and gas industry with transportation and disposal of waste and industrial cleaning services.

Elk works closely with sister company, Berks Transfer, a waste and recycling transfer facility built to accept 1,000 tons of waste per day. Berks Transfer accepts municipal solid waste, construction and demolition debris, liquid waste, and solid residual waste. Berks Transfer also rents dumpsters, and provides solidification of liquid residual wastes.

HISTORY

Elk Environmental Services was founded in 1988 by the Empire Group, as an environmental waste transportation company to complement their already successful demolition and excavation business, Empire Services, founded in 1955 as Empire Wrecking.

Since beginning operations in 1988, Elk Environmental quickly evolved into a full-service industrial and environmental remediation and waste management services firm. For almost 30 years, Elk continued to grow – broadening its line of services, expanding its service area, building an experienced team, and attaining additional licenses and certifications. 

Today, Elk serves clients throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic states. Elk’s expert staff provides services including 24-hour emergency response, environmental remediation, waste management, field services, industrial cleaning, vacuum truck services, storage tank removal, hazardous and non-hazardous transportation and disposal, lab packing, and more than 40 safety and compliance training courses. 

In 2011, the company added the Elk Oil & Gas Division,  which operates from an office in the Williamsport, PA, area. The Elk Oil & Gas Division serves producers in the Marcellus and Utica Shale oil and gas industry with transportation and disposal of waste and industrial cleaning services. 

Elk works closely with the other five subsidiary companies within the Empire Group to provide clients with services including demolition, excavation, utility repairs, directional drilling, and transportation.
