At Heritage our first commitment is to safety- the safety of every employee, customer, supplier, contractor, and visitor. Nothing we do can become more important than our safety performance. Our goal is simple: the complete elimination of injuries, occupational illness, unsafe practice and environmental harm. We take pride in our health and safety record, which is amongst the best in the industry, but we continually strive to improve.

The objective of our Health and Safety Program is to proactively control the chemical, physical and environmental hazards through proper planning, hazard recognition, evaluation, control and communication so that we have no accidents, spills or other incidents. To make that happen, we require strict adherence to our standard health and safety manual by our personnel, subcontractors and visitors at Heritage facilities and project sites.

Heritage’s Health and Safety Program is lead and directed by the Corporate Safety Manager who reports directly to executive leadership.  Our program is implemented on a corporate-wide basis with health and safety plans prepared for every Heritage project. Inspections and audits are performed to determine compliance with each site-specific plan. The major elements of our program are: employee medical monitoring; employee health and safety training; site health and safety plan development; site inspections and audits; and near miss and safety observation follow-up and corrective action.

While management is leading Heritage’s safety initiatives, each employee is responsible for following safety rules and regulations, stopping unsafe activities, and participating to support an enhanced safety culture. To achieve the company’s ultimate safety goal of zero incidents, each employee must pledge to hold themselves to the highest safety standards in accordance with our 6Safety principles:
