Our President and Founder, Charles Patel started in the Steel Industry in 1971. In 1991, after 20 years at Mercury Stainless and Washington Specialty Metals he started his own stainless steel service center with a 5,000 sqft facility located in Mt. Prospect, IL. Still to this day we are a family owned and operated company.

In 2001, the company moved to Carol Stream into what is now our current Corporate Headquarters and with substantial capital investment in land and equipment, the 423/457 campus is SRM's main service center operation with complete in house capabilities including coil and sheet polishing, slitting, cut-to-length, and blanking.
