That Solar Place

In 1999, my wife and I saw a house with geothermal technologies installed in it. I started researching the industry and many others, including solar. Over the years of researching many different technologies, I considered the idea of starting my own store/business but my work or timing always got in the way. Finally something happened. The company I worked for was bought out and my job became not as valuable as it once was. So, I took a 2 month course on starting my own business at Microbusiness.ca and the realization of my dream, 'That Solar Place,' began.  I feel the timing is right for solar and people want to take control of their power and energy needs. As solar technology pricing has come down and traditional power and energy prices have risen, they are now close to par. This makes solar a viable competitor without the pollution and health costs associated with the use of fossil fuels.  Renewable energy is on the forefront of peoples consciousness and it makes sense not to give our hard earned incomes to energy producers and oil companies who in turn give it to shareholders and/or other countries overseas.  Canada has a tremendous wealth of solar, wind, and wave power that could power Canada 1,000 times over. By focusing our efforts, in 10 years Canada could be independant from energy derived from fossil fuels. How do I know, you ask? In Germany, a country with very little solar and wind resources, make 20% of all their power from renewable resources. That is enough power and energy to supply all of Canada's needs. They did it in 12 years with the right incentive programs.
