Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas, (the 'Company') a wholly owned subsidiary of Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. in Canada (the Enbridge Connection) was incorporated in 1957. Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas served its first natural gas customer in 1962.  With assets of more than $40 million, the Company distributes natural gas to approximately:  13,900  residential customers 1,600  commercial customers 23  industrial customers The Company has installed more than 572 miles of gas main and service lines (service map) within a New York State service territory that is about 785 square miles, across St. Lawrence County and a portion of Lewis County.  The Company serves the cities, towns and/or villages of Beaver Falls, Canton, Croghan, Gouverneur, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Madrid, Massena, New Bremen, Norfolk , Norwood, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Raymondville, and Waddington.  The Company has franchise rights for another 11 municipalities, to expand into Franklin County, if the future economics of the project justify it.  

In the Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas service territory, over 80% of the available business and residential customers have selected natural gas.  In communities where gas has been available for more than five years, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas provides service to about 95% of the available customers.    Of the Company’s total residential and commercial customer base, more than 94% of our customers heat with natural gas.  On a yearly basis, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas distributes over 10 billion cubic feet of gas, the equivalent of about 71 million gallons of oil or enough gas to heat more than 75,000 homes!  With headquarters in Massena, NY, and a satellite operations building in Ogdensburg, NY, the Company employs a highly trained and skilled workforce of about 50 employees.  As a public local distribution company, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas is regulated by the New York State Department of Public Service Commission.  The Company’s distribution rates for residential service have been the lowest in New York State for more than eight consecutive years.  Each year, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas collects more than $30 million in gas revenues, pays more than $1.1 million in state tax, approximately $0.6 million in federal tax, and about $1.2 million in municipal and property taxes.  Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas owns a subsidiary, Enbridge Services, which rents gas utilization equipment such as conversion burners, water heaters, unit heaters and furnaces.
