Trio Diamond and Gold

In the early 1970’s, Trio’s original owner began his creative career as a metal sculptor, attending local artisan markets where he sold his one-of-a-kind pieces. He produced copper and brass wall pieces as well as bicycles, trains, and antique cars from recycled metal materials. It was this work, and the experience of attending the markets, that eventually led him to the art of jewellery design and manufacturing. Next he began working with karat gold jewellery in 1974 in the basement of his home, after completing a jewellery making course. This is the same year he and his wife welcomed their first daughter into the world. During this time, he continued working at his current job as a bank manager at CIBC. He began creating a strong client base with his fellow colleagues, as well as their family and friends. It was not long until he and his partner at that time began running out of space while creating jewellery in his basement.  They decided to move into their first location on Seller Avenue in Burnaby.  This is when Trio Diamond & Gold Jewellery Inc. was established, and the business really began to grow. After six years of juggling his family (now a family of five), his jewellery manufacturing, and his position at CIBC, he decided to quit his job at CIBC and concentrate fully on creating jewellery full time. In 1984, he and his wife welcomed their fourth daughter into the world. All four daughters had important roles in the business

Since then, Trio remains a family owned full service jewellery store that specializes in creating unique jewellery that inspires. On September 30, 2016 the original owner retired, and Trio’s new owners took over on October 1, 2016. Read more about the new owners here. They are located at 4669 Kingsway in Burnaby (where Trio moved to in 1992). Trio’s goal is to provide quality craftsmanship, affordable prices and the highest integrity to their clients in a friendly environment. Educating each of Trio’s clients is also extremely important to all of the staff at Trio. They want each of their clients to know exactly what they are purchasing. This is especially important with the sale of Diamonds; a gem with qualities that are often misunderstood. Trio is unique from many other jewellery stores by offering the option for clients to recycle their old gold to create beautiful new modern items. This option saves their clients the cost of purchasing new gold, and they are only charged for the labour required to create the piece. This is a great option for individuals who have old and often worn out jewellery from a loved one who has passed away. Trio can create a priceless piece to cherish for years to come. Other services offered by Trio include free jewellery cleaning, repairs & alterations, appraisals, insurance claims & replacement, consignment & estate jewellery, watch repairs, jewellery plating, engraving, pearl stringing, custom designs and more.  As a family business, Trio enjoys “giving back” by supporting their community through local sponsorship and fundraising.  For many years, Trio’s main sponsorship was directed at The South Burnaby Neighborhood House, which was a very rewarding experience. Along with the successful involvement and support of The South Burnaby Neighborhood House, Trio has also been chosen as finalists in the Burnaby Newsleader’s “A List” awards three times, and has received first place three years in a row for 2012, 2013, & 2014. They received certificates for “The Best Place to Buy Fine Jewellery” in Burnaby, as well as “The Best Consignment Jewellery” in Burnaby. Trio has also received the 2014 “Best of Burnaby” award, were finalists in the 2012 Burnaby Business Excellence Awards “Small Business of the Year” catagory, received the 2013 Corporate good neighbours award, and were voted the “Best Jewellery Store in Burnaby” by the readers of the Burnaby Now in 2014. Trio also supports many smaller local fundraising events by donating services for silent auctions and other events.
