Back in 1964, a railroad engineer named Bill Horrell Sr. had an ambitious idea to start a business with a one thousand dollar loan and hopes of sending his children to college. With that initial investment, Bill Sr. and his wife, Ann, took a leap of faith and opened a catalog showroom in Belle Vernon, selling just about any household item you could think of.  They named their business Mar-Bill after their children Margaret and Bill Jr.  As Mar-Bill became a success, Mr. and Mrs. Horrell were able to achieve their number one goal, sending their kids to college.  Margaret chose a career in medicine while Bill Jr. chose a career in the family business working along side his parents.  As the years went by, Bill Jr. began to gravitate toward jewelry, so the Horrells decided to open a separate location dedicated to selling jewelry alone.  The Mar-Bill jewelry location continued to flourish despite the rise of big box retailers and their negative impacts on the catalog business. Therefore, they saw the opportunity to change their business model, from a catalog showroom to a retail jewelry store, and MarBill Diamonds and Jewelry was (re) born

MarBill Diamonds and Jewelry is now a third generation family business with Bill Jr., his wife Linda and their son Michael working together to carry on Bill Sr.’s legacy.  The Horrells continue to educate and dedicate themselves to the jewelry industry, in order to give their staff and clients an experience they will never forget.  Linda is a GIA Graduate Gemologist, Michael is a GIA Graduate Jeweler, and nearly everyone on staff has some level of GIA training.  MarBill Diamonds and Jewelry is a business founded on family and a passion for people and jewelry.
