History:
Darden Jewelers was established in Conway, SC on September 5, 1940 by John W. Darden Jr. and Hannah Ross Darden. The Company was expanded to Myrtle Beach in 1954 and Georgetown in 1957. Darden Jewelers also opened a store in Lancaster, SC in 1969
John W. Darden III (Buzz) had a lifelong involvement in the Jewelry industry. He began management in January 1969 upon graduation from the University of South Carolina. He later managed four stores plus a wholesale and manufacturing company.
Upon Mr. Darden’s death in April 2010 Darden Jewelers of Murrells Inlet operates today under management with his wife Susan Darden, son Stuart Darden and daughter Elizabeth Darden. With the third generation of family, Darden’s is Horry and Georgetown County’s oldest Jewelry Firm.
