After studying finance at the University of Scranton and working at Vanguard Mutual Funds, Steve’s grandson, Nick Pronko, returned to the store full-time in 2005. Nick initially returned to help run the business because his mother had taken ill and he knew the store was very important to her. Once he was back in the jewelry store, Nick realized how much he loved it and he has never looked back. He took over the business in 2014.   Nick has brought a new level of excellence while keeping the friendliness and dedication that make this family-owned jewelry store so special. Nick Pronko is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America and an American Gem Society Certified Gemologist Appraiser. Staff continuing education with the Gemological Institute of America and the American Gem Society are a focus here. Every single team member at Steve Pronko’s is a talented and trained professional. Steve Pronko started his jewelry business as a watchmaker in the back of his brother’s pharmacy. Steve worked to save enough money to eventually open his own store. In order to make ends meet during The Great Depression, Steve also sold electronics and appliances. However, Steve's first love was always jewelry and after WWII, the need for engagement rings and wedding bands allowed him to specialize in fine jewelry.  All four of Steve’s children worked in the store while they were growing up but for many years it looked like none would take over the business. His son, Dave Pronko eventually took on the challenge in 1973. Following in Steve’s footsteps wasn’t easy, but Dave brought new ideas into the store and Steve Pronko Jewelers continued to thrive and grow.
