After a lifelong friendship that included marching together in the Murphy High School band (class of 1947), Mr. Billy J. Walker, our late owner, purchased Friedman's Fine Jewelry from Mobile's Friedman family in July 1977.  The Friedmans knew Mr. Walker had the expertise and work-ethic to be able to continue the work they had started in downtown Mobile some years before.  At this time, the Friedman family saw the need to move the store from the then-declining downtown area and move 'out west.'  Friedman's became one of the first tenants in the high-rise Regions Bank Tower at the intersection of Airport Blvd. and I-65 S. where the business has thrived ever since.  Fast-forward 36 years, and everyone can see that Mr. Walker, who passed away in August, 2013, left a solid legacy of unsurpassed quality coupled with a commitment to excellence in customer service that is unrivaled.  His nieces, after working side-by-side with Mr. Walker, continue to build on this foundation and honor his legacy
