Claude Moore Jeweler, Inc.

 The original Claude Moore was trained in diamond setting and hand engraving, and after he returned home from World War 1, he decided to set up shop in his home in November 1922.  Within two years, he was able to move his operations out of his home into a small shop in the first national bank building. His wife Mercedes worked on the sales floor, while he worked in the shop.  This began the tradition of husband and wife working side by side that has continued for four generations.  When Claude Sr. passed away in 1945, Mercedes continued to run the store until their son Claude Moore, Jr. finished college at the University of Alabama in 1949.

Over the next 30 years Claude Moore Jeweler continued to grow, and changed locations several times as the city moved westward.  During that time, C. Howard Moore, III joined the business as well, and attained the title of Registered Jeweler with the American Gem Society.

Today, not only are we still Mobile’s premier jeweler, but we also have the finest bridal and gift registry selection in town.The store is now being run by our fourth generation. Claude Moore, IV and Beth Moore Sumlin run the jewelry and giftware departments, respectively.We are proud to have served the Mobile Community for over 90 years.

APPRAISALS  Claude Moore Jeweler offers a complimentary appraisal on every jewelry item we sell. We will also appraise any jewelry you already own. Fees for appraisal will vary based on the number of items. We offer lifetime updates on appraisals at no additional charge.

ENGRAVING  We offer engraving on select merchandise, including engagement rings and wedding bands. The machine engraving process can take up to 7 days to complete, hand engraving can take 2 weeks or more. Please visit our store for a price quote on your specific engraving request.JEWELRY & WATCH REPAIRS  WHETHER YOU NEED A RING RESIZED, A STONE REPLACED, OR A GOLD CHAIN REPAIRED, OUR JEWELER IS READY TO HELP.  Many basic watch repairs such as batteries and band resize/repairs or replacements can be done on premises with a next day turnaround. General estimates for watch repair may be given at time of take in, but exact estimates are confirmed before moving forward with any repair work. We have experienced off-site watch makers to assist in more complicated watch repairs such as water resistant resealing, movement overhauls, case and bracelet refinishing or dial replacement.  We invite you to bring any of your jewelry or watches for a free repair estimate. We also invite you in for cleaning and inspection of any of your jewelry while you wait at no charge.
