Sundance Jewelers

We are a family owned business located in the heart of MSU's campus. Betty Yonkus and Bill Yonkus Sr. opened the store in 1973 and started by selling Native American jewelry. We began with turquoise and sterling silver and have since branched out into fine jewelry. Today we sell engagement rings, diamond and gemstone jewelry, Spartan jewelry and much more. Bill Jr., Betty and Bill Sr.'s son, now helps run the store. Betty, Bill Sr. and Bill Jr. are all GIA graduate gemologists. You'll be sure to find at least one Yonkus in the store.

Our History

In 1973, Sundance Jewelers opened its doors. Betty and Bill Sr. started the store by selling Native American jewelry, specializing in turquoise and sterling silver. Sundance Jewelers was the 'campus jeweler' for MSU. After success with Native American jewelry and with so many loyal customers, Sundance was able to branch out and offer more styles of jewelry. While we still offer turquoise and sterling silver, we also offer a variety of other jewelry from stackable rings to engagement rings. And of course, we have a large selection of Spartan jewelry for your inner Spartan.

Who We Are

Betty, Bill Sr. and Bill Jr. are all GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Graduate Gemologists. GIA has the strictest standards for grading diamonds and gemstones and their grading process is known worldwide. The Yonkus' received their certification at the GIA campus in California. After completing their courses, they returned to Michigan to share their skills. Since 1992 Sundance Jewelers has been able to grade diamonds and gemstones, type accurate insurance appraisals, and identify stones. While we still have our turquoise and sterling silver roots, our skills have broadened to fine jewelry and diamonds.
