Austin Utilities

Austin Utilities is a community-owned, not-for-profit electric, water, and natural gas utility, serving more than 12,000 customers within a community of over 23,000 people. Austin is located in Southeastern Minnesota approximately 12 miles north of the Iowa border and approximately 100 miles south of the Twin Cities metro area.Austin Utilities has built a strong, solid reputation for outstanding service. Our customers range from the residential homeowner to a Fortune 500 company. We provide the same level of dedicated service to all of our customers.Austin Utilities receives no tax dollars. Instead, nearly $1.6 million in utility revenues are transferred each year to the City of Austin's general funds. Austin Utilities Board of Commission is an elected board and comprised of customer-owners who govern the utility. The Commission approves the utility budget and establishes electric, water and natural gas rates for consumers.
