Electric, water, and wastewater utilities are municipally owned.  The Truman Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has been providing reasonably priced, reliable service since 1938.  For service calls during the day or for after hours emergencies, contact the PUC at 507.776.6501 .  The forman’s Contact information is in the city directory.

Truman Public Utilities customer service is located at 202 West Ciro Street.  Please stop in to establish new service or, if you’re leaving us, to disconnect your service.  (If you are a new customer, you can expedite the hookup process by having this form filled out in advance.)  Your monthly bill can be paid in person at this office as well.  Truman Public Utilities provides recycling, water, sewer, and electric services to residents within city limits.  The office is open 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday.  For more information stop in, call 507.776.6501, or email us.

Natural gas, refuse, and cable TV are privately owned and franchised through the city.  (An online guide for Truman’s cable TV lineup is available.)  DIRECTV  will provide satellite TV service to your area.  Other cable TV information is available at CableTV. Frontier is also  provides DSL service and other high-end technologies to Truman residents and businesses.  Internet Service can be provided by  MVTV Wireless.  Or, there is also a website which can give you options as to which internet provider will work for best for you. 

Our public library is located in City Hall, 101 East Ciro Street.  The library is open Monday  – Friday 1:30 – 5:30 PM.   Check with library (507)776-2717 about their on-line ordering service.  The library and City Hall are fully accessible for all patrons.  The street department, fire department, and ambulance/rescue squad are also housed in this building.  For more information on these individual departments, see the city directory.

Reservations for the Community Building can be made by contacting the city hall administrative office.  Truman’s Community Building is an ideal facility for dances, receptions, and meetings.  The main hall has a large open floor, flexible for use as a dance hall, banquet room, or meeting room.  A fully-appointed kitchen with china is also available.  The main hall seats approximately 300 people for a larger function.  Two smaller meeting rooms are located off the main lobby of the facility.  The Community Building is fully handicap accessible, including entrances and restrooms.

Truman is located on Minnesota Highway 15.  We are 10 minutes north and south of major multi-lane freeways.  Travelers on Interstate 90 will take Exit 102 at Fairmont.  Travel 10 miles north on Highway 15 to find Truman.  Travelers coming from the north (Mankato or the Twin Cities metro area) will take US Highway 169 south to Minnesota Highway 60 west.  Travel 10 miles south on Highway 15 after you exit Highway 60.

Greyhound bus stations are located at Fairmont (10 minutes), Madelia (20 minutes), or Mankato (40 minutes).  Travelers getting to the area by air will fly into Minneapolis/Saint Paul (2 hours – all major airlines), Rochester (90 minutes – Northwest, American), or Sioux Falls (2 hours – Northwest, Delta, AmericaWest, United).  Well-maintained freeways from these airports lead to Truman.  Our nearest Amtrak station is in Saint Paul (2.5 hours).
