Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro is responsible for providing a safe, reliable supply of electricity for more than 90,000 homes and businesses across Kitchener and Wilmot Township. Our service territory spans 404 square kilometers.

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro is governed by our senior leadership team, our Board of Directors and the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) our provincial regulator.

We are committed to ensuring that we are financially viable to continue to make necessary investments to continue to provide a safe, reliable, quality service to our customers. Our objective is to meet that commitment while maintaining fair and reasonable local charges.

Investing in our Community

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro has been a valued member of our community for over 100 years. We are proud to give back to our community, where our employees work and many live.

Here are some of the ways we are giving back to our community:

Board of Directors

On July 1, 2000 Kitchener Power Corporation was incorporated under the Business Corporation Act along with three wholly-owned subsidiary companies:

  • Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc., a regulated distribution corporation;
  • Kitchener Energy Services Inc., a corporation for future energy services;
  • FibreTech (Kitchener) Inc., a fibre optic telecommunication corporation, started by the former hydro commission in 1999.

The City of Kitchener and the Township of Wilmot are the shareholders of Kitchener Power Corporation, with ownership interests of 92.25% and 7.75% respectively.
