Midland Power Utility Corporation (Midland PUC) is an electricity distributor or local distribution company (LDC). From 1908 to 2000  we operated as a public corporation and were known as the Midland Public Utilities Commission. In 2000 we were incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporation’s Act and are owned by the Corporation of the Town of Midland.

Midland PUC receives high voltage power (44,000 volts) from transmission lines in Waubaushene and step-down the electricity to a usable low-voltage level for local homes, businesses, institutions and industry.

Our other responsibilities include connecting renewable generation, delivering effective conservation and demand management programs, installing smart meters and implementing time-of-use pricing and investing in grid modernization initiatives.

Midland PUC’s goal is to provide our customers with reliable energy and we have a very long history of providing safe, reliable and trusted electricity distribution. CDM Strategy

Midland PUC & CHEC Introduction

The development of the Conservation First CDM Plan within a collaborative framework has allowed Midland PUC and the other CHEC Association members to utilize central resources and expertise to prepare the background information while applying local knowledge and conditions to finalize the specifics of the Conservation First CDM Plan for each LDC.

CDM Target

The Conservation target to be achieved by Midland PUC as assigned by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) is 13.3 GWh.

Midland PUC’s CDM Strategy

Midland PUC’s Conservation First CDM Plan recognizes the targets set by the IESO and confirms the intent of the LDC to work towards meeting these targets. The benefits of conservation for our customers and the provincial initiatives have been proven via the IESO programs over the last four years.
