For almost 100 years, Peterborough residents have been relying on Peterborough Utilities for their water and electricity needs.  Until the Ontario Government opened the electricity market to competition in 2000 the Peterborough Utilities Commission, the predecessor to the Peterborough Utilities Group (PUG), provided the electricity and water services for the City of Peterborough.  Since then the PUG has expanded dramatically.  PUG today also develops and operates electricity generation, energy equipment rentals, and commercial metering services both in Peterborough and other areas of the Province.  It now has also expanded electricity and water services to a number of areas outside the City of Peterborough.

For the 4th straight year in a row, Peterborough Utilities Group (PUG) is pleased to announce that they are being recognized as one of Canada's Safest Employers. 

Canada’s Safest Employers Award was launched in December 2010 by Canadian Occupational Safety, a Thomson Reuters business who initiated the awards program to recognize outstanding Canadian companies that are making a difference in promoting the health and safety of their workers. After being named Canada's Safest Employer in 2012 and receiving the Silver Award in 2013 & 2014, PUG is being recognized once again with a Silver Award for the Transportation & Utilities category.
