St. Thomas Energy Inc. has a history that spans more than 100 years. In 1906, the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario formed to bring electricity from Niagara Falls to municipalities throughout the province. One of the first public utility commissions to join this publicly owned power grid was St. Thomas. And so, what is today St. Thomas Energy Inc. was born. Following deregulation in the 1990s, St. Thomas Holding Inc. (now Ascent) was officially incorporated as a for-profit entity and became the parent company of St. Thomas Energy Inc. -- wholly owned by the City of St. Thomas. Today, as the local power distributor for St. Thomas, we are proud of the position we have in the community and the level of service that we provide our customers.

Public Safety

We take safety seriously at St. Thomas Energy. Operating in an environment of strict safety protocols and regulations, we ensure the safety of our employees and our customers. We measure employee and public safety by incident and accident frequency, lost time due to injury and our level of commitment to Occupational Health & Safety practices and training. It has been more than 1 million hours (15 years) since St. Thomas Energy Inc. has had a compensable injury. In addition, our office has been recognized as a customer-focused organization through the Thumb's Up program, which focuses on safety and accessibility for individuals with mobility problems.
