At Waterloo North Hydro, we touch the lives of our customers every day, providing the electricity needed for their homes, schools and businesses. We deliver electricity, safely and reliably, at the lowest reasonable cost.

Serving approximately 55,500 customers, we deliver energy to over 672 square km across a large urban and rural service area. We do so with 128 employees all focused on quality service and customer satisfaction.

Waterloo North Hydro Holding Corporation is the parent holding company of Waterloo North Hydro Inc. and is owned by the City of Waterloo and the Townships of Wellesley and Woolwich.

Waterloo North Hydro was a founding partner of Sustainable Waterloo Region and is a Bronze Pledging Partner of the Regional Carbon Initiative where we have committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% over 2010 levels by 2020.

In 2011, we moved into our new administration and service centre building on Country Squire Road. Back then, we received a LEED silver rating for the building.

We continue to look for ways to reduce our impact on the environment. In 2015, old and inefficient lighting was replaced with LED fixtures through the saveONenergy Retrofit program. The new LED fixtures use up to 80% less energy and the bulbs last up to 25 times longer. The LEDs provide significant energy savings. The LED conversion will save 248,000 kWh's a year. That's enough energy to power 26 homes for one year.
