Kidd Operations Located in Timmins, Ontario, we operate the Kidd Concentrator and the Kidd Mine, the world’s deepest base-metal mine below sea level, mining at 9600 feet with shaft bottom at 9889 feet.To meet the challenges of deep mining, we employ a highly skilled workforce and use leading edge technology like automated loaders and ventilation-on-demand. With a constant focus on achieving zero harm, we are committed first and foremost to safety, the development of our people, and the sustainability of our community and environment.

  • Kidd Mine will produces an average of 40,000 tonnes of copper and 70,000 of zinc annually. 
  • Kidd Mine is the world’s deepest base-metal mine below sea level reaching 9600 feet. The mine also has the longest surface-to-bottom ramp in the world.
  • We transport our ore by rail to our Kidd Concentrator/Mill located 27km from the mine.
  • We are one of the largest private-sector employers in the City of Timmins with a workforce of approximately 850 including full-time employees and contractors.

Kidd Operations engaged our employees in a strategic planning process called 2020 Vision. Nearly 2,000 ideas to improve our operations and cut costs were generated by employees. From these ideas, we developed and implemented a strategic plan that resulted in a mine life extension to 2020.Since then, we have extended our life-of-mine to early 2022 through effective cost management and the implementation of leading-edge technology like automation and ventilation-on-demand.
