PacifiCorp is one of the lowest-cost electricity producers in the United States, providing 1.8 million customers with reliable, efficient energy. PacifiCorp has 10,894 megawatts of generation capacity from coal, hydro, renewable wind power, gas-fired combustion turbines, solar and geothermal.PacifiCorp is one of the West's leading utilities, serving approximately 1.8 million customers in six states. The company was formed in 1984, when our electric utility, natural resource development and telecommunications businesses grew into full-fledged enterprises. In 1989, we merged with Utah Power & Light and continued doing business as Pacific Power and Utah Power. PacifiCorp is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy.Today, PacifiCorp consists of three business units: Pacific Power, which delivers electricity to customers in Oregon, Washington and California, is headquartered in Portland, Oregon; Rocky Mountain Power, which delivers electricity to customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah; and PacifiCorp Transmission, which includes transmission operations, Energy Gateway expansion projects and transmission services for the company. PacifiCorp is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.Our company values open relationships with its suppliers. PacifiCorp has interests in coal mines that support its coal-fueled generating facilities. In Wyoming, PacifiCorp has two-thirds interest in the Jim Bridger Mine. Bridger Coal Company, a PacifiCorp joint venture with Idaho Power Company, is the mine operator. PacifiCorp also has an interest in the Trapper mine in Colorado.In 2015, PacifiCorp idled the Deer Creek underground coal mine in Utah and commenced reclamation activities.Coal mining operations produce low-cost, quality fuel for PacifiCorp's power plants and are nationally recognized for productivity, safety and environmental factors.As part of the company's commitment to the environment, it has introduced new clean technologies to reduce the impact of its mining operations on the environment.
