Blackstone’s principals are successful entrepreneurs in traditional energy businesses. In 2009, they leveraged their respective experience in natural gas marketing and boiler maintenance networks to start Blackstone Energy Solutions. The reasoning? They recognized that technology had finally caught up with the needs of sustainability, and there was an opportunity to develop clean-tech projects that also had healthy economics.

At its beginning, Blackstone was a design/ builder of solar thermal systems, developing one of the largest systems in Canada at McMaster University’s Ivor Wynne Centre. As we grew, we added more areas of expertise, including solar PV which has become our core focus.

Blackstone believes that our solutions should provide three basic wishes: good economics, increased sustainability, and a healthy measure of cool. We are far from satisfied in this endeavor. We are always working to improve our existing services, while also incorporating the newest technical, financial and design innovations.

Installation:

HVAC: hundreds of systems

Solar thermal: over 90 systems

Geothermal: over 10 systems

PV: over 40 systems, ranging from 10kW to 250kW, on- and off-grid 

Financing:

Ontario Power Authority Feed-in-Tariff project non-recourse debt financing, including construction-stage.
