NACCO History
NACCO dates back to 1913 with the incorporation of The Cleveland & Western Coal Company
- Name changed to The North American Coal Corporation in 1925 (Operated exclusively in the coal industry for the next 60 years, through 1985)
- Name changed to NACCO Industries, Inc. in 1986 with creation of new holding company
- Entered the materials handling industry in 1985-1989 (Through acquisition of Hyster and Yale)
- Entered the housewares industry in 1988-1990 (Through acquisitions of WearEver-ProctorSilex and Kitchen Collection, and subsequent merger with Hamilton Beach)
- Exited the materials handling industry in September, 2012 (Through the spin-off of the lift truck business as an independent public company, Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc.)
