Erie Bronze & Aluminum Company
6300 W Ridge Rd, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States | Aluminum
We are a green sand casting foundry that specializes in non-leaded bronze alloys for a variety of different industrial applications. Green sand molding is an efficient method for creating close to near net shape metal parts and is typically the least expensive of all the casting processes, including die casting and investment casting.
Molding
Automated Molding Line
- Bronze sand castings ranging from 3 to 150 pounds
- 26 x 26 flask size
Cope Drag Molding Line
- Large bronze sand castings up to 500 pounds
- Up to 36 x 36 flask size
Melting
- Six electric furnaces
- Furnace sizes range from 1000 to 2000 pounds in melting capacity
- Technology to work with you to pour or develop non-leaded copper based alloys
Finishing
- All castings are cut off, ground, and blasted in our cleaning department
- For orders requiring physical properties, separate test bars are poured along with the castings. The test bars are machined and pulled at our in-house lab
- Orders requiring heat treatment, LPI, X-ray or machining are sent to qualified outside sources
- Parts are packaged per customer's specifications
BRONZE ALLOYS
We cast a variety of non-leaded bronze alloys for many different industries. All metals are alloyed in house using our SPECTROLAB metal analyzer to meet your exact specification.
Aluminum Bronze (952, 953, 954, 955, 958)
These alloys are wear resistant and exhibit good welding characteristics as well as exceptional mechanical properties. They withstand corrosion in many environments including seawater, chlorides, and dilute acids. These alloys are considered non-sparking and suitable for equipment designed to handle explosives, petroleum, chemical and gas products. Aluminum bronze alloys containing more than 10% aluminum can be heat treated to boost their mechanical properties.
Manganese Bronze (862, 863, 865)
The strongest of all cast copper alloys, these alloys are used mainly for heavy duty mechanical products requiring moderately good corrosion resistance at a reasonable cost. These alloys not only have high tensile and yield strength, but can operate under very high loads and speeds which makes them a great alloy for your bearing needs.
Tin Bronze (903, 905, 907, 911)
Tin bronze alloys are known for good corrosion resistance, reasonably high strength, good wear resistance, and a lower coefficient of friction when compared to steel. They are capable of accepting shock and impact loads, but with reduced surface speeds which makes them an excellent choice for high strength bushing and bearing applications as well as moveable bridge components.
Silicon Bronze (875)
These moderate strength alloys exhibit good corrosion resistance when submerged in liquids or chemicals. Applications range from bearings and gears to plumbing goods and intricately shaped pump and valve components.
