CEO Patrick Kelley, who grew up in Point Place, Ohio can remember ducks swimming in oil slicks around the former Willow Beach amusement park, and canoe trips up the Ottawa River through some pretty smelly factory effluent.

“And now I see the environmental [cleanup] effort working,” Said the president of the area’s largest recycler of waste oil. “I see now see how clean Lake Erie and the Maumee River are…I now see bald eagles in the area, and I get calls all the time from students who are writing reports on the environment.”

Mr. Kelley is the owner of DISC Environmental Service, which since 1983 has been involved in the effort to clean up the disposal practices of the past. DISC Environmental Service was formed in 1983 and now collects up to 14 million gallons of waste oil a year from more than 1,100 customers within a 120 mile radius of Toledo, Ohio.

The customers include service stations, auto repair garages, auto dealers, and municipal garages.
