TIMI Plastics, Inc

TIMI Plastics, based in Towanda, Pennsylvania, was established in 1982 as a division of Towanda Iron & Metal Inc. to handle a void in the marketplace for the recycling of a variety of plastic materials.  TIMI derived its name from the first letters of its parent company’s name.

 

    In 1982, TIMI Plastic’s main purpose was to work closely with many large plastic manufacturing operations and their recycling efforts.  TIMI’s introduction into plastic film came while working with DuPont Corporation to find homes for many of their film products that were being disposed of in many local landfills.  TIMI became DuPont’s recycler for many of their customers in the Northeast.

 

    TIMI developed many secondary markets for this material, which included selling the film into the “graphic montage” market, cable wrap, etc.  Much of the plastic film processed by TIMI was sold into the fiber and bag manufacturers market.

 

    In 1992, TIMI incorporated and added more employees and equipment to its current operations.  Currently, TIMI has 10 employees, with seven granulators producing millions of pounds of regrind annually.  TIMI’s marketing team has developed not only a large domestic market for their material but an international market as well, including Asia, Europe, Canada and Mexico.

 

    TIMI handles a variety of plastic materials including PET, PP, PS, ABS, PVC, PE as well as many engineering grade materials.  TIMI’s marketing team has also been able to broker a variety of finished goods and over stocked materials for many of our clients.  

 

    TIMI Plastics offers its suppliers and customer’s service second to none.  TIMI has the ability to spot trailers at supplier locations as well as handle less than truck loads of plastic materials.  TIMI’s close relationship with a variety of freight and container companies enables TIMI to facilitate prompt pick up and delivery of materials for our clients.
