Since its establishment in 1995, Hardin County Solid Waste is Hardin County’s Recycling center, collecting materials to be recycled from the communities of: Ackley, Alden, Buckeye, Eldora, Hubbard, Iowa Falls, New Providence, Owasa, Radcliffe, Steamboat Rock, and Union.  We are a governmental agency, with board members from each of the communities we collect from.  There is also a board member from the Hardin County Board of Supervisors, representing all unincorporated areas of Hardin County.  For more information as to who the representative for your city/county is, please contact your local city hall or governmental agency.Hardin County Solid Waste has an Electronic Waste (E-waste) program, for the collection of old, and unwanted electronic waste, for a small fee.  This program is for Hardin County residents and businesses, giving everyone the ability to dispose of these items properly, by not putting them in the Landfill. 

Hardin County Solid Waste has been accepting household hazardous waste from Hardin County residents since 2002.  In order to drop off your hazardous waste, please call 641-939-5808, to make an appointment.  The Hardin County Solid Waste Hazardous Waste Satellite Site is a program provided through a partnership with Metro Waste Authority.
