Department of Defense (DOD)

Like no other time in its history, the Department of Defense (DOD) must continue with its multi-level policy and installation efforts, to comply with numerous stringent Congressional and Presidential energy efficiency mandates such as the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, the Energy Policy Act (EPACT 2005) of 2005, Executive Order -- Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), and several other “call to action” directives.

Through the use of energy services contract vehicles such as Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC’s), Utility Area Wide Contracts (UESC’s), Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) Contracts, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA’s), (DOD) must aggressively install Clean-Tech (renewable energy), Smart-Grid, Advanced Metering, Deployable Metering and Monitoring Systems, Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Systems, LED Lighting, Leak Detection Systems and other relevant energy, fuel, and water conservation technologies in order to meet and exceed mandated energy, fuel, water, and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions reduction goals by policy driven target dates.
